Seoul, the second: Part 1

Swallowing saliva *gulp*

I had just finished writing about my first trip to Seoul almost about three months ago and now I am back with the latest travelling post to Seoul. Having said that, i did say that i was going to Seoul again and... i made it last month. Fuh! That was fast. Like really fast for me.

The urge to visit Seoul again came about three months ago. But i was contemplating at that moment. Well...only for a short while.

I was bold, at least that's what i think. To make such a decision in a very short time. You know when you're determine for something, you'll sort out for a way to get it. It's like the saying that goes 'where there's a will, there's a way'. That's what i told myself. I wanted to go somewhere far, where i could get myself into crowds again. And, part of it was also because i missed Seoul, the city, the food and the people. Then, things happened. In a blink of an eye. Like a snap. Like Thanos' snap.

I had a solid five days trip to Seoul this time around and managed to cover a few places that i did not manage to go during my last trip. The total budget for this trip was RM2,325 all in for one person. Please note that if it is your first time to Seoul, you'll probably be spending even more than this just like my first trip.

My flight ticket costed me RM1,067 all in excluding the seat. This may vary.

Since this time around i went there with my aunt and her friend, we decided to look for a room with more privacy through Airbnb. Our accommodation costed us RM358 per pax for the whole six nights in Seoul. There are a lot more choices with cheaper price if you do not have any specific terms in choosing a room.

Since this is my second time to Seoul, i'll just cramp everything in maybe one or two blog posts...or maybe three. We'll see how it goes. That should be enough...right?

Before that, if you guys are planning to go to Korea anytime soon, make sure to download Subway Korea app first before going there. It'll be very useful for your trip later.

So now, let's start with the itinerary!

Day 1:

Ewha Womans University - Eid Halal Korean Food - Seoul Central Mosque - Namsan Tower - Myeongdong

Directions:
Ewha Womans University: Ewha Womans Univ Station (Line 2 - Exit 2), turn to the left and walk straight for 300 metres until you reach the university.

Eid Halal Korean Food & Seoul Central Mosque: Itaewon Station (Line 6 - Exit 3) Go straight until you find Mr Kebab and Dunkin Donut outlets on the right. Turn to the right at the road next to Mr Kebab. Walk straight until you find a big road on the left. Go along the road. You'll find many halal restaurants on your right and left side (But not pure korean food). Walk straight until you find Seoul Central Mosque on your left. You have to walk for 300 metres more to find Eid Halal Restaurant on your left.
*Make sure to check their operating hours before you go there!

Namsan Tower: Myeongdong Station (Line 4 - Exit 3) Walk to the left, you'll see a 7Eleven store. Walk along the road on its left until you see Pacific Hotel. Then, turn to the right. Walk along the road on its right for 5-10 minutes. You will see a tall building on your right stating Namsan Cable Car. You can either choose to hike Namsan Hill or use their cable car.

For Hiking: You have to cross the road in front of the building and you'll find staircase that'll lead you to Namsan Tower.

*I like hiking better since i get to stop whenever i like to take photos.

Myeongdong Street Food: Go back to Myeongdong Station (Exit 6). Turn to the left, walk for 100 metres and you'll find Myeongdong's night life!

Day 2:

Makan Halal Restaurant, Itaewon - Gyeongbokgung - Samcheongdong - Bukchon Hanok Village - Insadong - Dongdaemun Plaza

Directions:
Makan Halal Restaurant: Same as Eid Halal Korean Food but it is closer to Seoul Central Mosque (About 100 metres after passing the mosque. The restaurant will be on your right (White-based outlet).
*Make sure to check their operating hours before you go there!

Gyeongbokgung Palace: Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3 - Exit 5) Exit will be straight away to the palace.

The entrance fee is 3,000 won per person but since it was Korean Cultural Day when we went there, we got to enter the palace for free! But the crowd was Masha Allah!

Samcheongdong - Bukchon Hanok Village - Insadong:

You may refer to the maps above to get to the stated destinations. I used the second map because it was easier to understand compared to the first one.

Samcheong-dong: From Gyeongbokgung Palace, you may exit the East Gate near to Gyotaejeon. Go to the left. Cross the road. You'll find National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. On its right, there's a cafe named Aesop. There's a street next to the cafe. Walk along the street. That is Samcheong-dong culture street.

Bukchon Hanok Village: Walk along Samcheong-dong street until you find houses in ascending order (Macam rumah bersusun atas bukit).

And you'll find this (As per below photo). So go to the stated direction (Well actually it doesn't matter. Just find any staircase between the houses, it will somehow lead you Bukchon Hanok Village cause they're all connected). There will be directions along the way so you don't have to worry my dear. It is always about trial and error.

Insadong: What we did was just walk along the street. Better to find Anguk Station first. Walk in the station and exit at Exit 6. Walk straight for 100 metres and turn to the left. Destination is on your left.

Dongdaemun Plaza: Dongdaemun History & Culture Park (Line 2, 4, 5 - Exit 1)

That is all for Day 1 and Day 2. In shaa Allah Day 3, 4 and 5 will be following in the next posts.

A few tips that you may use while travelling:

1) Don't be afraid of asking the locals if you're lost.
2) Bring foods from Malaysia; Gardenia, Berahim's, Sambal Pahang, Sambal Ikan Bilis and etc etc
2) Internet use is very crucial when finding a destination, so book one before flying to Seoul. I used Roamingman.my for this trip.

See you in the next posts. Stay tuned peeps!
